Is AI a hype?
Well, it depends. There are lots of applications, lots of speculation, and lots of predictions, but most companies are on the lookout for the ways AI might impact or disrupt their industries.
If you are on the fence and haven't jumped yet into the AI pond, start prepping your bathing suits.
Even the most traditional industries will be impacted by AI. *
One day, you wake up to hear your sales team chatting:
"our competitors launched a cool new integration with OpenAI; everyone is talking about it."...
or you get a call from the CEO about a new PR recently published by one of your competitors.
Don't be surprised, and don't come too late to the party - the time to act on AI is now.
You can hide behind Legal and privacy issues, but the fact is - your competitors are already testing the waters,
Your customers are starting to expect you to deliver the promises of the AI revolution.
So what do I propose?
Remember that blog posts (specifically ones written with GenAI) and PRs are more accessible to publish these days.
There are tools to automate content creation, and not all of your competitor's AI talk is generating customer value.
Where to start? , or what should you analyze:
1. Does your competitor hire in the AI space? You can create a topic dashboard with the following keywords.
"Machine Learning Expert," "LLM Specialist," "DataScientist"
Use DigBI's people search to check if competitors already have AI or data science teams.
2. Are they using their tools or implementing 3rd party services like OpenAI?
3. Are these POCs or actual products/features, or is it all ideation?
4. Are there customer case studies for the AI functions introduced?
5. AI is not free - are there changes to the Business model introduced? Are they charging extra for these features?
What to do next?
1. You need to be aware that the AI market is constantly evolving - one of our customers has a DigBI account explicitly dedicated to tracking AI market trends in their industry (not just competitors but key publications and news websites).
2. You need to find the quick wins for your customers - what can be easy to implement, show enough impact, and demonstrate that you are still in the game.
3. Copy - If your competitor has a good AI tool that is easy to implement - copy it. It is better to copy than to stay behind.
4. Copy & Differentiate - If your product shines
3. Lead - Look at adjacent industries. Look at what indirect competitors are doing and what other tool vendors are working on and try to get ideas.
Stay informed.
